_ [Music] Kenny Millions' Big Time / Keshavan Maslak Quartet
ケシャヴァン・マスラクは確か奥さんが日本人ということもあって、一時期頻繁に来日していたらしいのだが、最近は来ているのかしら（寿司屋の経営で忙しいのかもしれん）。大体ジャズ、それもきょうびわざわざ「前衛」を名乗っているようなやつは辛気くさいものが多いし、聞いている奴もおおかた「他人の理解できない高尚な音楽を聞いている自分」に酔っているだけなのでほとんどどうでもいいのだが、マスラクあたりは相当なアウトサイドも辞さないのにどことなくおかしみがあって、単純に聞いて楽しい。若死したセルゲイ・クリョーヒンとも最晩年に共演していたが、この二人はいろいろな意味でとても相性が良かった。余裕というか、落語でいう「フラ」というか、そういうもののある珍しいフリージャズプレーヤたちだと思う。
この1982年のアルバムでマスラクははやはり似たような素質を持つミシャ・メンゲルベルクと共演していて、ドルフィーのやったHypochristmutreefuzz(これはCDのみ収録)とかハービー・ニコルズの2300 Skiddooとか、おそらくはメンゲルベルクの趣味と思われるやばい曲と自作を取り上げて割と(彼にしては)ふつうに料理している。マスラクのテナー吹きとしての実力が存分に発揮された傑作だが、チャールズ・モフェットのきびきびとしたドラミングにも注目。
というか、これも品切れなんですか…。いいもの順に市場から消えていくなあ。
_ [Music] いよいよ邦楽探訪
世の中の流れから三周半くらい遅れていますが、くるりの「さよならストレンジャー」はとても良かった。詩もアレンジも色彩感に富んでいるし、様々なバックグラウンドが感じられて素晴らしい。ヴァイヴなど小道具の使いかたもうまい。変にベタついていないのもよい。このあたりはプロデューサの佐久間正英の手腕なのかしら。次作ではジム・オルークがからんでいるとかで、これは借りるしかないですかね。個人的な好みは「オールドタイマー」「トランスファー」あたりだが、私が地方出身者なら「東京」あたりもかなりくるかもしれん。
で、aikoの「夏服」のほうなんですが、うーん、これを佐々木敦さんが褒めていたんですか? ストリングスやギターのアレンジとか、かなりイモなような…。ヴォーカル自体も、Bonnie Pinkや矢井田瞳あたりと比べるとちょっと押しが弱いかなあ。といいつつ、変なアレンジがなくなってストレートな曲が多くなる後半は結構いけますね。「アスパラ」や「ボーイフレンド」なんかはとてもいい。まあヒットした曲みたいだしねえ。特に「ボーイフレンド」では、なぜかボニー・レイットを思い出した。シークレットトラックはピアノ弾き語りなのかな?
以上から大体明らかなように、私は基本的にノリノリ(死語)じゃないとダメな人なので、そのあたりは適当に割り引いて読んでくださいまし。他におもしろそうなものがあったらどんどん推薦してください。せっせと借りてきますので。ツタヤ万歳。
佐々木氏のコメントは，HEADZ の氏のページから辿れます．<br><br>くるりの 2nd での Jim O'rourke プロデュースは，<br>彼のプロデュースがいい方向に向かっていない珍しい例だと思います．あまり期待しないほうがいいかもしれません．<br>3rd と 4th は傑作ですが．<br><br>以前，クリョーヒンが死んだ直後にピットインで<br>マスラク＋大友の追悼プレイを見ましたが，最高でした．<br>クリョーヒンとやった「悲しき天使」とか好きでしたね．
お久しぶりです。押しが弱い、って言う感想はボニーピン子に対して僕が持ってる感想だったりして、面白いっす。歌声はAIKOの方が灰汁が強い気がするけど、人それぞれなんだねえ。
かのうさん、マスラク+大友をお聞きになったというのはうらやましいですね。私自身はそもそもクリョーヒンを知ったのが没後のことなので、機会がありませんでした。残念。
さとぅくん、まあアクというのも難しいが、aikoはなんか声をフルに出してないような気がしたのね。まあそれを狙っているんだろうし、あるいはボニーピンクは(特に1stがそうだが)mixの問題もあるのかもしれない。
なるほど。ビチッとＰＡが整ってる環境だとバンドの中でも「声をフルに出さない歌唱」なんて可能なのかなあ。チェット・ベイカーの歌い方なんて、ジャズの音量じゃなかったら無理じゃないかと思うんだけど、どうなんでしょう。僕はバンドリハとかでいっつも全力歌唱しないと声が通りません。ボニピンの１ｓｔはあれはひどいね。特に曲が。それだけに2枚目以降の成長振りに驚かされます。

さとぅくん、大声を出せば「声がフルに出る」というものでもないでしょう。というか出るには出るか。「声を鳴らしきっている」と言う方がいいのかな。声に芯がある人とない人がいる(個人的にはチェットはあの歌い方でも芯は通っていると思う)いい方もできるけど、感覚的なものだから、根本的には好みの問題だと書きました。
歌唱の声については大いに突っ込んでも良いのですがそこをスルーしてmhattaさんにRie fu（http://www.riefu.com/）とかおすすめしてみるテスト。
charlieさん、いやここはそういう趣旨の場所なので大いに突っ込んでいただいていいですよ(笑)。Rie Fuは今試聴してみたが、decayはなかなかいいんじゃないでしょうか。あとの二曲はちょっとピンとこないけれども、きちんと聞けばよいのかもしれない。
